Official release of the digital EP Revivi on 15 september 2026
Armel Amiot is unquestionably what can be called an eclectic musician. In the 80s, it was first as a guitarist and singer with the rock trio Porte 53, for three albums of original songs and more than 500 concerts. Then, from a rock singer he gradually became a jazz singer, without letting go of his guitar. He scoured the Parisian swinging jazz scenes with a large number of groups (Caveau de la Huchette, Petit Journal, Méridien).
A little later, the banjo crossed his path when he joined the band La Planche à Laver. Ranging from New Orleans jazz and Caribbean biguine to acoustic funk, the group performed at numerous festivals in France, the French West Indies and French Guiana, and abroad. With three albums, the second recorded in New Orleans, the band gave Armel the chance to try his hand at singing in Creole (specifically, Martinican Creole).
In the meantime, Esperanto had crossed his path, and the seed had quietly taken root. The idea of writing original songs in the International Language was simply waiting for the right moment.... As was the case for many artists, the first lockdown provided the perspective and time needed for a fresh start.
The EP Banĝo Esperanto (2022) served as Armel’s gateway into the world of Esperanto music, while retaining the Creole flavor of his previous band.
His second EP, Dezertoj (2024), ventures into blues territory. It explores the myth of the desert, a symbol of solitude and abandonment. The EP’s six songs come in pairs, like yin and yang or the two sides of a coin: one dark, the other luminous.
Today in 2026, his new EP Revivi evokes the cycle of life: four songs, each representing a season, from carefree spring to the frozen chill of winter awaiting the return of the Sun God. Two poems, written as mirror images of one another, frame these songs, tracing the journey from the moment of awareness in the womb to the final departure.
It is a digital EP designed to be played on a loop, living up to its title!
