Official release of 6-track digital EP jOmO popumas, on october 10, 2026.
In this new album, jOmO wants to rediscover the energy of the era that was already historic and legendary when he started making music: the 1960s and 1970s with the explosion of pop music. The songs, recorded at Studio de la Trappe by Triboulet in Donneville, are played by drummer Jérôme Galaup and guitarist Pierre Bertrand, who was a member of the group Liberecanoj who jOmO made his first album with. His daughter Marta Julia and colleague Estelle Lahaix arrived to join the group, singing together and in harmony.
The first song on the album, “Fragokampoj por ĉiam” (Strawberry fields forever; perhaps some have already understood the reference), is a tribute to the rock group The Beatles, who certainly inspired many artists to make music during their adolescence. The text contains 19 titles from the famous British group, translated into Esperanto. Find them if you also love that band.
“Agu por paco” (Act for peace) tells how, especially during the Vietnam War, young people acted for peace, which was a great common value at the time. jOmO remembers how impressed he was when he saw the first demonstration of his life on the streets as a child, against that war.
With “Kiso dum Iso” (A kiss during I.S.), jOmO wants to pay tribute to the great influence of American black music that greatly inspired white pop rock with its Motown rhythm of polyphonic groups, often female. It is also a nostalgic moment for people who knew the famous German arrangement between Christmas and New Year, I.S. (Internacia Seminario), to which the group Amplifiki once dedicated a song.
“Nur gravas la amo” (Only love matters) contains a message in the title, saying that one should not judge the choice or the inclination of another person, that this is personal and that no one is concerned with the tendencies of other people. Unfortunately, even if progress is visible in society, we must constantly repeat this message.
“Nostalgio” (Nostalgia) is about the famous “Post-Meeting Syndrome” of the Esperanto speaker who finds his daily life back after a moment of happiness in the international Esperanto world. Perhaps every Esperanto speaker has already experienced this feeling.
“Funkolando” (Funkland) is an Esperanto translation of jOmO’s English-language song “Sexy Esperanto”, which, as is customary in Japanese sports, used the “strength of the opponent” to promote the international language.
jOmO hopes that this danceable song will be played during Esperanto celebrations all over the world.
